President’s Message

I am privileged to serve along with some very talented professionals on this year’s Board.  We are excited about the growth our Chapter has experienced, and the enrichment it provides members through professional development programs, a focus on the latest trends in technology and training, and regular networking opportunities.  Attendance at our meetings continues to be consistent and regularly includes guests (many of whom join!).  We also routinely gain new members throughout the year.  Our Lowcountry group meets monthly, and they too enjoy good attendance and interesting programs.

Our Chapter is financially strong with dues remaining at $50, with no additional charge.  We are looking forward to this year’s great lineup of programs and to seeing you there!

This year, we are focused on accomplishing the following goals:

  • Maintain our present membership number at its current level. These days everyone is concerned about the economy, the strain on small businesses, and the job market.  We are committed to our members, and will continue to support you through quality programs and meetings.
  • Increase visibility to local businesses. This year’s Board will implement a marketing strategy that includes a new Midlands Chapter brochure, an Expo, and a new Marketing Chair position to heighten awareness of our Chapter and the benefits it offers employers.
  • Identify and establish a Marketing Chair Board position by the end of second quarter. We recognize the need for a our Chapter to have an increased visibility to organizations with training departments, and to training professionals who want to benefit from membership.
  • Plan and hold a Training and HR Networking Expo in June, 2010. Plans include connecting members with vendors, and other training and HR professionals from various industries who will share best practices.  This will be our first annual Expo event!

Feel free to contact any Board member and let us know how we can serve you better.  Also, there are plenty of opportunities to be involved in the Midlands Chapter so please consider lending your skills and talents to this wonderful organization!
